With a career spanning over 30 years, Dondero started as an analyst in 1984. That year, he entered the Morgan Guaranty training program and also became a graduate of the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce with dual majors to show for his hard work. In the years to come, he earned both his CMA and CFA certifications.

Most of Dondero’s experience is in credit and equity management.

After graduating from the University of Virginia, James Dondero worked for the prestigious company American Express from 1985 to 1989.
