Ivy is the first architect to receive an honor from Noel Polk Award. He will join Morgan Freeman and Walter Anderson as notable names who have received the honor. The Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters shines a light on individuals who have made great achievements in their industry and are affiliated with the state of Mississippi.
Robert Ivy is noted for presenting architecture in a manner that can be understood by a broad audience. He uses his skills as a commentator and author to present his topics in a manner that most people can understand.

Robert Ivy took the position of CEO of American Institute of Architecture in 2011. He grew the organization’s membership to the highest it has been in the 160 year history of program. Ivy moved on to become editor-in-chief of the Architectural Record. He took over the company in 1996 and eventually made it the most widely read architectural publication in the world. His responsibilities also include being the editorial director of McGraw-Hill Construction Media.
The Architectural Record enjoyed a tremendous amount of success under Robert Ivy’s leadership. It was presented with the American Society of Magazine Editors National Magazine Award for General Excellence. This is a distinctive honor because it is not normally given to a professional journal.
Robert Ivy has continued to earn a number of different recognitions. These include the Crain Award. The Crain Award was a unique accomplishment because it is not normally given to an individual. Ivy was named Master Architect by the Alpha Rho Chi National Architectural Fraternity. He is in exclusive company with this title because he is one of only seven to receive it in the 100 year history of fraternity.
